Text elements allow you to add titles, captions, and other written content to your videos. You can customize fonts, colors, styling, and timing to create professional-looking text overlays.

Adding Text Elements

To add text to your video:
  1. Go to Elements in the left sidebar
  2. Click on Text
  3. A text box will appear with default placeholder text that you can edit.

Typography Options

Font and Size

  • Font: Fonts on Clueso are provided by Google Fonts. You can choose from one of the provided fonts, or upload your own custom font.
  • Font Size: Adjust the text size using the input field

Text Styling

  • Bold: Make text bold for emphasis
  • Italics: Add italic styling to text
  • Underline: Add underlines to highlight important text

Color and Alignment

  • Color: Change text color using the color picker
  • Alignment: Choose left, center, right, or justify alignment
  • Line Spacing: Adjust vertical spacing between lines
  • Letter Spacing: Control spacing between individual letters

Styling Options

Background

  • Full Box: Apply a background color to the entire text box
  • Split by Line: Apply background color to individual lines of text

Outline

  • Add an outline around your text with customizable color and thickness
  • Useful for making text stand out against complex backgrounds

Shadow

  • Add drop shadows to text for depth and visual interest
  • Control shadow color, blur, and offset

Duration Controls

Smart Duration

  • Smart Duration automatically adjusts the text duration to match the length of your content
  • Perfect for ensuring text stays visible long enough to be read

Manual Timing

  • Set specific Start Time and End Time for when text appears and disappears
  • Alternatively, drag the text element on the timeline to adjust timing visually

Tips for Effective Text

  • Keep text concise and readable
  • Use high contrast between text and background colors
  • Consider your audience’s reading speed when setting duration
  • Use consistent typography across your video for brand consistency
  • Test text readability on different screen sizes
  • Avoid placing text in areas where it might be covered by other elements
