Adding Text Elements
To add text to your video:- Click the Text tool (T icon) in the left sidebar, or press T on your keyboard
- Click anywhere on the canvas — or click and drag to draw a text box at a specific size
- A text editor opens immediately at that position. Start typing to enter your text.
Typography
The Typography section in the right panel controls how your text looks:- Font: Choose from Google Fonts or upload your own custom font
- Font Size: Adjust size in pixels
- Font Weight: Select a weight (400, 500, 600, 700, or custom variants depending on the font)
- Text Alignment: Left, Center, or Right
- Text Decoration: None, Underline, or Strike-through
- Line Height: Control vertical spacing between lines (50–200%)
- Letter Spacing: Adjust spacing between characters (−50 to 200%)
Fill
The Fill section controls the text color:- Pick a solid color using the color picker or enter a hex code
- Switch to gradient mode for gradient-filled text
- Adjust opacity (0–100%)
- Use the eyedropper tool to sample a color from the canvas
Stroke
Toggle the Stroke section to add an outline around your text:- Width: Control outline thickness (0–30 px)
- Color: Choose the outline color
Background
Toggle the Background section to add a colored box behind your text:- Type: Choose between Multi lines (background on each line separately) or Single box (one background behind all lines)
- Padding: Space between text and background edge (0–100)
- Corner Radius: Roundness of the background corners (0–100)
- Color: Background color with opacity control
Shadow
Toggle the Shadow section to add a drop shadow to your text:- X / Y Position: Offset the shadow horizontally and vertically
- Blur: Control shadow softness (0–30)
- Color: Shadow color with opacity control
Smart Duration
Enable the Smart Duration toggle to automatically adjust text duration based on reading time. When enabled, the text element’s duration is calculated so viewers have enough time to read the content. If there isn’t enough time left in the clip, a warning will appear. When Smart Duration is off, you can set timing manually:- Set specific Start Time and End Time in the Layout section
- Alternatively, drag the text element on the timeline to adjust timing visually
Tips for Effective Text
- Keep text concise and readable
- Use high contrast between text and background colors
- Consider your audience’s reading speed when setting duration
- Use consistent typography across your video for brand consistency
