In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to speed a portion of some clip in your video. If you want to speed your entire clip uniformly, check out this tutorial.
In this article, you’ll learn how to speed up a section of your video on Clueso, particularly useful for skipping through loading screens or other lengthy sections. In the previous lesson, we already learned how to control the playback rate of a certain portion of your video using sync points. If you haven’t already gone through it, we’d highly recommend doing so before going through this one. In our example video, we’re generating an image with ChatGPT and want to skip through a long loading screen. The loading section starts when the prompt is entered and ends when the image is generated. download (32).png
1

Identify the section to speed up

Locate the section in the script that you want to speed up. In this case, it’s between Sync Point 5 and Sync Point 6.download (33).pngEach of the sync points 5 and 6 locks to a certain frame in the video. In this case, sync point 5 locks to the frame where the loading starts, and sync point 6 locks to the frame where the loading ends.In Clueso, the duration of any portion of your video is determined by the time it takes the AI to read out the script corresponding to that portion of the video. So in this example, if it takes 10 seconds for the voiceover to read this part of the script, the loading section will last for 10 seconds in the video.
2

Shorten the duration

To speed up this section, shorten the script so that the video goes more quickly from the frame at Sync Point 5 to the frame at Sync Point 6.download (34).png
Alternate approach: If you don’t want to delete any part of your script, you can simply drag sync point 6 to an earlier point in your script, so that the loading finishes sooner.
3

Regenerate the voiceover

After editing the script, click on Generate Speech.
You’ll notice that the video moves through the loading screen much faster.
