# Clueprints
Source: https://help.clueso.io/Clueprints
Reusable video templates that store your complete visual style, so every new video starts polished
Clueprints are reusable video templates that capture everything about how a video should look and feel. Instead of setting up layouts, colours, fonts, animations, and voiceover style from scratch every time, you save all of that into a Clueprint and apply it to any new video in one click.
Clueprints are different from [Templates](/clips/templates/templates). Templates are individual intro and outro slides you insert into a video. Clueprints are full video templates that define the entire visual style, structure, and tone of a video from start to finish.
## What's inside a Clueprint
A Clueprint stores a complete set of style rules that Clueso Agent follows when building your video:
* **Layouts** for different clip types (intro, feature walkthrough, comparison, outro, and more)
* **Design rules** covering colours, typography, backgrounds, animations, captions, image handling, and effects
* **Voiceover guidance** for tone, pacing, and script style
* **Music preferences**
* **General instructions** that describe the overall approach
When you create a video using a Clueprint, Clueso Agent reads all of these rules and applies them automatically. You get a consistent, polished result without having to describe your style every time.
## Browsing Clueprints
Open **Clueprints** from the left sidebar. You will see three tabs:
* **Personal** shows Clueprints you have created yourself
* **Workspace** shows Clueprints shared across your team
* **Community** shows Clueprints published by Clueso and other creators
Click on any Clueprint card to open a detail view with a video preview and clip thumbnails.
## Creating a video from a Clueprint
Click **Clueprints** in the left sidebar to browse available Clueprints.
Browse the **Personal**, **Workspace**, or **Community** tabs and click on a Clueprint that fits what you are building.
In the detail view, click **Create video**. This opens a new project with the Clueprint's style rules already loaded.
Type your prompt describing the video you want. Clueso Agent uses the Clueprint's rules to handle the layout, design, and structure automatically. You just focus on the content.
## Creating your own Clueprint
Click the **+ New clueprint** button in the top right corner. You will see three options:
* **From scratch** starts with a blank Clueprint. You define every rule yourself.
* **From a project** creates a Clueprint based on an existing video project. Clueso extracts the style rules from that project so you can reuse them.
* **Import clueprint** lets you import a Clueprint file that someone has shared with you.
### From a project
This is the fastest way to create a Clueprint. If you already have a video that looks the way you want, Clueso analyses it and extracts the design rules, layouts, and structure into a new Clueprint. You can then fine-tune the rules in the editor.
### From scratch
This gives you a blank Clueprint with the full file tree. You write or edit each rule file directly:
* **instructions.md** for general guidance
* **layouts/** for clip layout definitions
* **design/** for colours, typography, backgrounds, animations, captions, images, music, and effects
* **script/voiceover-guidance.md** for voiceover tone and pacing
## Editing a Clueprint
Open a Clueprint and click **Edit this Clueprint**. You will see the full file tree on the left and a rendered preview on the right. Click any file to edit its rules directly. Changes are saved automatically.
## Sharing a Clueprint
When you create a Clueprint, it starts as **Personal** (visible only to you). You can change its visibility:
* **Personal** is private to your account
* **Workspace** makes it available to everyone in your team
* **Community** publishes it for all Clueso users
## When to use a Clueprint
* **Brand consistency** when your team produces videos that should all follow the same visual identity
* **Repeatable formats** like weekly product updates, customer tutorials, or onboarding walkthroughs
* **Faster creation** when you want to skip the design phase and go straight to writing content
* **Onboarding new teammates** so they can produce on-brand videos without learning every design decision

Tips for getting better results from Clueso Agent
# Best practices
Source: https://help.clueso.io/Clueso-agent/best-practices
Get better results from Clueso Agent and make the most of your credits
Clueso Agent works best when you treat it like a freelance video editor you just hired, not a search box. A good brief takes ninety extra seconds to write and saves you twenty minutes of back-and-forth.
## Writing a good first message
A good first message covers three things:
1. **What you want** the type of video, the topic, and the key points
2. **Who it's for** your audience and what they already know
3. **How it should feel** the tone, style, and length
Attach your files (logo, footage, deck, or document) in the same message, not after.
## Tips for better results
* **Use a Clueprint when one fits.** Clueprints are pre-designed templates that handle layout, styling, and structure. They do most of the design work and you get a more polished result with less back-and-forth.
* **Answer questions with a sentence.** When Clueso Agent asks a clarifying question, give it a real answer, not just "yes" or "sure". A sentence of context helps it make better decisions.
* **Name the clip and name the fix.** "Clip 3 - make the title larger" is fast to act on. "Something looks off" triggers another question.
* **Ask it to review before you export.** "Look through the whole video and flag anything that looks off" is a genuinely useful prompt. It can spot spacing, contrast, and timing issues you might miss.
## Using your credits wisely
Every message to Clueso Agent uses credits. Here's how to get more done with fewer messages.
Straight trims, batch voiceovers, "cut this bit out". A smaller model handles those fine and costs about half as much per message, sometimes less. Keep the bigger model for when you want it to watch the footage and work out what should change.
Ask for several changes in one message instead of sending them one at a time. Five edits in one message costs roughly a fifth of five separate messages.
The longer a chat gets, the more each message costs. If you're working on different parts of the video, start a fresh chat for each section.
Going back and forth to nail down one change costs as much as the change itself. Include all the detail upfront: the clip, the element, the exact change, and a rough timestamp if it helps.
If you're pointing at a specific moment in the video, describe it in words and include a rough timestamp from the editor. This stops Clueso Agent from spending time hunting for the right spot.
When Clueso Agent asks a question, don't send the answer on its own. Combine it with your next instruction. One message instead of two.
Simple trims and cuts are faster on the timeline than describing them in chat. Save Clueso Agent for the work that needs judgement: figuring out what to cut, where the dead air is, and how to restructure a section.
For high-volume repetitive tasks like splitting, trimming, and batches of voiceovers, you can connect Clueso to your own Claude via MCP. That runs on your own API key and doesn't use your Clueso credits.
## Common mistakes to avoid
"animate", "go", "start", "yes". These always trigger a follow-up question, so you never save time. Give Clueso Agent something to work with.
"Animate this logo" or "use this image" with no file attached. Always attach files in the same message where you reference them.
"Make a video on flowers" describes a topic. It says nothing about the point, the audience, or the length, so Clueso Agent has to invent all three. Add context.
If most of the video is working, don't ask Clueso Agent to redo it. Name the specific clips and changes you want instead.
Clueso Agent doesn't know your brand colours, your competitors, or last quarter's launch unless it's in the conversation, in a Clueprint, or in a file you attached.
Clueso Agent asks a question and the answer never comes. If you've changed your mind, say so. "Actually, forget the intro, start at the demo" is completely fine at any point.
## Quick reference
1. Say what you want, who it's for, and how it should feel before anything else.
2. Attach your logo, footage, deck, or link in the same message.
3. Use a Clueprint if one fits. It does most of the design work for you.
4. Batch multiple edits into one message to save credits.
5. Use a smaller model for simple jobs, the bigger one for creative decisions.
6. When something's wrong, name the clip and name the fix.

# Remove members
Source: https://help.clueso.io/administration/admin/remove-members
Remove members from your Clueso workspace
You can remove members from your Clueso workspace at any time. This action revokes their access but their content remains intact.
Only **Admins** can remove members. See [Members and roles](/administration/admin/members-and-roles) for details.
## Removing a member
Click the **workspace switcher** at the bottom of the **left sidebar** (it shows your workspace name and plan).
In the dropdown, click **Workspace settings** at the bottom (gear icon). This opens the Settings page.
In the Settings sidebar, click **Users** under the **Team** section.
Scroll through the list or use the search bar to find the member you want to remove.
Click the **three dots** (•••) next to their name and select **Remove from workspace**. Confirm the action to finalize removal.
## What happens when you remove a member
* The member **immediately loses access** to your Clueso workspace.
* Any content they created (videos, templates, or edits) **remains in the workspace**.
* If the same user is added back later, their account will be **re-associated with all their previous content**.
## FAQs
No. Removing a member only revokes their access. All videos, templates, and other content they created will stay in the workspace for other members to use.
If you re-add a removed member using the same email, their account will be linked back to their previous content. They'll see all their videos, templates, and edits as before.
They cannot access your workspace anymore, but they may still have access to their personal Clueso account if they use the same login for other workspaces.
No. You can always add the member back later. If you need to fully delete an account, please contact Clueso support at [support@clueso.io](mailto:support@clueso.io).
# SSO
Source: https://help.clueso.io/administration/admin/sso
Set up SSO login for your organization on Clueso
SSO is only available for enterprise customers.
Clueso supports **SAML-based Single Sign-On (SSO)** to secure access for your organization.
## Setting up SSO
Let the Clueso team know (through your official support channel) that you wish to enable SSO login.
Our team will share a **SAML setup link** via the secure support channel.
This link does not require authentication and should only be shared with your internal security team.
Your internal team should use the setup link to complete the SAML configuration process.
Once setup is complete, notify us. The Clueso team will then **enforce SAML authentication** for your organization's account.
## Inviting users with SSO
For a user to access Clueso after SSO is enabled, they must be added in **two places**:
1. **Internal SSO portal** — The SSO administrator grants access to the user in your identity provider.
2. **Clueso workspace** — The Admin [invites](/administration/admin/invite-members) the same user via the Members page.
A user will only be able to log in if they are added to both systems.
## Existing user logins after enabling SSO
When SSO enforcement is turned on, existing users can login using the SSO option on the login screen.
Select the **SSO** from the available methods.
Enter your organization email address. You will be redirected to your company's identity provider login page.
For existing users logging in with email and password, please follow the steps below:
On the login screen, click the link to sign in with a different method.
Select the **SSO login option** from the available methods.
Enter your organization email address. You will be redirected to your company's identity provider login page.
Once authenticated, you'll continue to use Clueso as usual.
All existing data, projects, and settings are retained. Switching to SSO does not affect the user's content or profile.
## FAQs
No. All videos, templates, and workspace settings remain unchanged. SSO only changes how users authenticate.
Once SSO enforcement is enabled, all users in the organization must use SSO. Email/password login will be disabled for the workspace.
Clueso supports any SAML 2.0 compliant identity provider, including Okta, Azure AD, OneLogin, and Google Workspace.

You won't be able to export or publish new videos until your next billing cycle starts, unless you purchase additional export minutes or upgrade your subscription.
Export minutes and editor seats are bundled together. Each bundle includes **15 export minutes and 1 editor seat**.
# Video export limits
Source: https://help.clueso.io/administration/billing/export-limit
Learn how the video export limit is calculated
Clueso's pricing is based on two factors:
1. The **number of seats** in your workspace
2. The **minutes of video exports** per billing cycle
## How export minutes are calculated
For each video, minutes are counted based on the **longest version of that video** that you export or publish.
* Exporting the same video multiple times in the same billing cycle does not multiply usage.
* Only the longest exported version counts against your limit.
* This ensures you're not penalized for re-exports.
> **Example 1: Basic editing**
>
> * You create a 5-minute video.
> * After adding an AI voiceover, the final length is 3 minutes. When exported, **3 minutes** count toward your limit.
> * Later, you extend the video to 4 minutes and export again. Only the **additional 1 minute** counts.
> * **Total**: **4 minutes** count against your limit — not 7.
## Translated videos
When you use [Magic Translate](/translation/translate) or **Duplicate**, a **new copy** of your video is created in the chosen language.
* Each translated video is treated as its own video.
* Exporting a translation counts its full length against your limit.
> **Example 2: Translations**
>
> * Original English video = 3 minutes
> * Translated into 3 additional languages (French, Spanish, German)
> * Exported in all 4 languages
> * **Total**: **12 minutes** counted against your limit (3 minutes x 4 versions)
## Key takeaways
* Only the **longest exported version** of a video in a billing cycle counts.
* Re-exports don't double-count unless the video length increases.
* Translated versions **each count separately** toward your export limit.
## FAQs
No. Only the **longest exported version** of the video is counted. If your edits don't increase the length, your usage does not go up.
No. Export limits reset at the start of each billing cycle, and unused minutes do not carry over.
Yes. Any **export or publish action** (including view-only links and embeds) counts toward your export limit.
Simply recording a video does not count toward your export limit. Minutes are only counted when you **export** or **publish** the video.
Yes. Once a video has been exported or published, the minutes are counted for that billing cycle, even if the video is later deleted.
You won't be able to export or publish new videos until your next billing cycle starts, unless you purchase additional export credits or upgrade your plan.
No. Exporting the same video in multiple formats does not increase your usage. Only the longest version of the video in that cycle is counted.
# Article copilot
Source: https://help.clueso.io/article/article-copilot
Use the article copilot to rephrase your article, edit screenshots and more.
Clueso copilot provides direct support for chat-based questions, editing screenshots, and improving the clarity and structure of your articles. You'll find it in the right sidebar whenever you have the **Article** tab open.
## Quick chat support
Use Clueso copilot for real-time help with questions and information gathering. To start, enter your message or query in natural language in the chat box at the bottom of the panel. Clueso copilot processes your request and replies in the same conversation, whether you're looking for an explanation, summary, or document restructuring.
If something's unclear, continue the thread — Clueso copilot keeps track of context so follow-up questions flow naturally.
### Example uses
* Request summaries of long documents
* Clarify project steps or technical terms
* Ask how to improve the wording for a specific section
## One-click prompts
Above the chat input you'll see a row of suggestion pills. These are common edits packaged as one-click prompts — useful when you don't want to type out the full instruction.
The available actions are:
* **Rewrite from video** — rewrites the article based on the current video transcript
* **Fix structure** — reorganises sections and improves the flow
* **Add animated GIFs** — turns key screenshots into GIFs
* **Shorten** — trims unnecessary detail while keeping the essentials
* **Remove extra images** — strips redundant screenshots
* **Remove zooms** — clears any zoom effects applied to screenshots
* **Improve writing** — fixes grammar and tightens the prose
Click any pill to load its prompt into the chat input — you can then edit it or send it as is.
## Screenshot editing
Clueso copilot can also edit screenshots directly from chat. Describe the change you want in plain language — for example, ask to blur confidential data, highlight key sections, or add annotations — and the copilot applies it inline.
### Example workflow
* Securely blur email addresses or personal info in a screenshot before sharing
* Highlight action buttons for tutorials and guides
* Mark up product interfaces to communicate a problem or suggestion
For best results, specify exactly what to blur, crop, annotate, or highlight.
## Formatting and rewriting
When text needs cleaning up or reorganising, type your instruction into the chat and the copilot will rewrite it in place.
### What copilot can do
* Add clarity with headings and bullet points
* Correct grammar and punctuation
* Rewrite sections for brevity or tone
* Summarise lengthy passages
## Tips for best results
* Be specific about what you want to achieve
* Provide context for better understanding
* Use follow-up questions to refine results
* Review outputs before finalising
# Custom prompts
Source: https://help.clueso.io/article/custom-prompts
Create and customize prompts to tailor how the AI co-pilot writes your articles
Custom prompts let you control how Clueso's AI co-pilot writes, rewrites, and structures your articles. Each prompt contains instructions that guide the AI's tone, style, and formatting. You can create multiple prompts for different documentation needs and switch between them at any time.
## Opening the Article Prompt Hub
In the article editor, click the **Select prompt** button at the bottom of the Clueso AI chat panel. This opens the **Prompt hub: articles** modal.
## Using Prompts
The Prompt Hub shows all available prompts as cards. The currently selected prompt has a blue border. Clueso provides a **default prompt** (marked with a "Default" badge) that produces clear, well-structured articles.
Click on any prompt card to select it, then click **Confirm** to apply. The AI co-pilot will now follow that prompt's instructions for all future responses in the chat.
When you change the active prompt, the co-pilot automatically updates its approach — you don't need to restart the conversation.
Click **+ Create new** to open the prompt editor. Fill in:
* **Title** — a name to identify when this prompt should be used (e.g., "Newsletter Style" or "API Reference")
* **Prompt** — the instructions that guide the AI (tone, structure, formatting rules, etc.)
* **Set as default prompt** (optional) — makes this the default for all new articles
Click **Create prompt** to save.
## How Prompts Work with the Co-Pilot
The Clueso AI co-pilot in the article editor uses your selected prompt as a baseline for all interactions. When you:
* Click a **suggestion pill** (e.g., "Rewrite from video", "Fix structure", "Shorten")
* Type a message in the chat
* Ask the AI to improve or restructure content
...the co-pilot combines your request with the active prompt to produce results that match your desired style.
## Managing Prompts
* **Edit** — click on a custom prompt card to modify its title or content. Pre-made prompts from Clueso are read-only.
* **Delete** — remove a custom prompt you no longer need
* **Switch** — change the active prompt at any time by opening the Prompt Hub and selecting a different card
Pre-made prompts (created by the Clueso team) cannot be edited or deleted, but you can always create your own to override them.
## Best Practices
* **Be specific about the style and structure** — describe the formatting, heading style, paragraph length, and tone you want
* **Write prompts like you'd brief a teammate** — natural language works better than overly formal phrasing
* **Create separate prompts** for different documentation types (e.g., one for release notes, one for how-to guides)
* **Focus on reusable rules** — prompts work best for instructions you want applied consistently across articles
### Example article prompts
| Use case | Example prompt |

# Add screenshots
Source: https://help.clueso.io/article/screenshots/add-screenshots
Learn how to add custom screenshots to your articles in Clueso
This guide explains how to add a custom screenshot to an article. Screenshots help illustrate your content and provide visual context for readers.
Follow these steps to add a screenshot to your article:
Switch to the **Article** tab and position the cursor at the point in your article where you want to add the screenshot.
Click on the **image icon** in the left margin. A dropdown appears with two options:
* **Choose from video** — grab a frame directly from your video
* **Upload from computer** — upload an image file from your device
If you selected **Choose from video**, a frame picker dialog opens. Use the **timeline scrubber** to browse through the video and find the exact frame you want. You can toggle **See individual frames** for finer control.
Click **Add image** to insert the screenshot into your article at the cursor position.
# Blur screenshots
Source: https://help.clueso.io/article/screenshots/blur-screenshots
Learn how to blur sensitive data within screenshots in text articles on Clueso
This guide will show you how to blur sensitive data within screenshots in text articles on Clueso. Blurring helps protect privacy and hide confidential information like email addresses, API keys, or personal data before publishing.
Follow these steps to blur sensitive information in your screenshots:
Begin by selecting the screenshot that contains the sensitive information. Hover over it to reveal the editing toolbar — you'll see a **pen icon** at the top-right corner of the image.
Click the pen icon to open the screenshot editor.
In the screenshot editor toolbar, you'll see a row of annotation tools:
* **Select** — move and resize shapes
* **Crop** — crop the image
* **Rectangle** — draw a rectangle overlay
* **Circle** — draw a circle overlay
* **Arrow** — draw an arrow annotation
* **Spotlight** — highlight an area
* **Blur** — blur a region
Click the **Blur** tool to activate it.
Click and drag across the specific area you want to blur. A blur rectangle will appear over the selected region, obscuring the content underneath.
You can draw multiple blur regions on the same screenshot. After drawing, you can:
* **Resize** the blur area by dragging its handles
* **Move** it by clicking and dragging
* **Adjust the corner radius** using the slider in the right panel
* **Delete** it by selecting it and pressing Delete
When you're satisfied with the blur, click **Save edits** at the bottom of the editor to apply the changes. Click **Discard and exit** if you want to cancel without saving.
The blur is permanently applied to the image — readers will not be able to see the original content underneath.
## Common Use Cases
| Sensitive data | Example |
| ------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------- |
| **Email addresses** | Blur `user@company.com` in settings screenshots |
| **API keys and tokens** | Blur `sk-abc123...` in developer dashboard captures |
| **Personal information** | Blur names, phone numbers, or profile pictures |
| **Financial data** | Blur revenue figures, billing details, or pricing |
| **Internal URLs** | Blur staging or internal dashboard URLs |
Use the **corner radius** slider in the right panel to give your blur rectangles rounded corners for a more polished look.
If you need to highlight an area instead of blurring it, use the **Spotlight** tool — it dims everything except the selected region.
# Screenshot to GIF
Source: https://help.clueso.io/article/screenshots/screenshot-gif
Learn how to convert screenshots into GIFs using Clueso to create dynamic visual content
Turn any screenshot in your article into an animated GIF. GIFs make your articles more engaging by showing dynamic content instead of static images, which is especially useful when a single frame doesn't quite capture the action.
Hover over the screenshot you want to convert and click the **GIF** button in the toolbar at the top right of the image.
The GIF button only appears on screenshots that were captured from your video — uploaded images can't be converted to GIFs since there's no source clip to draw from.
The GIF maker opens with the source clip loaded into the editor. Use the controls in the right panel to fine-tune the result:
* **Zoom** — zoom into a specific area of the frame (100%–300%)
* **Playback speed** — speed the GIF up or slow it down (0.5x–3x)
You can also drag the timeline scrubber at the bottom to trim the start and end of the GIF.
When you're happy with the preview, click **Convert to GIF**. Clueso replaces the screenshot in your article with the new animated GIF.
# Zoom screenshots
Source: https://help.clueso.io/article/screenshots/zoom-screenshots
Learn how to enhance your article's screenshots by adding zoom effects to highlight specific areas
Enhance your article's screenshots by adding a zoom effect. This lets you focus the reader's attention on the most important part of an image.
Hover over the screenshot you want to zoom in on and click the **pen icon** in the toolbar at the top right of the image.
In the editor, click the **Crop** tool in the left toolbar. The right panel will now show a **Zoom** slider alongside the aspect ratio controls.
Drag the **Zoom** slider in the right panel to zoom in or out (100%–300%). You can also click and drag inside the image to pan and re-centre the zoomed view on the area you want to highlight.
Once you're happy with the result, click **Crop image** at the bottom of the right panel to apply the zoom.
# Adjust Aspect Ratio
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/Adjust-aspect-ratio

This article explains how to adjust the aspect ratio of your video. Changing the aspect ratio helps you format your content for different platforms and screen sizes.
Click anywhere outside the canvas area to deselect everything. The right panel updates to show project-level settings.
In the right panel, click the Aspect Ratio dropdown.
The first option shows your original recording resolution. Select this to keep the video exactly as recorded.
Select the aspect ratio that best fits your use case.
| Option | Best for | Devices |
| -------------- | ----------------------------------------- | ---------------------------- |
| Original | Keeping the recording as-is | Matches your recorded screen |
| Landscape 16:9 | YouTube, presentations, widescreen | Desktop, laptop, TV |

| Square 1:1 | Instagram feed, social media posts | Mobile, tablet |
| Standard 4:3 | Presentations, classic monitor format | Desktop, older screens |
| Portrait 3:4 | Pinterest, some mobile formats | Mobile, tablet |
| Portrait 4:5 | Instagram feed portrait posts | Mobile |
The canvas updates immediately to reflect your selection.
## FAQs

# Introduction to Clips
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/clips/clips
How to work with clips in Clueso
Clips make it simple to add new content into your video at any point in the timeline. Instead of re-recording, you can insert new sections—whether that’s a blank clip, an external file, or even another Clueso project.
To insert a new clip, hover over the timeline at the point where you’d like to add content. Then click Add Clip.
Here, you’ll see several options:
* **Blank Clip**: Insert an empty clip into your timeline. This can act as a placeholder or a section where you’ll later add script, AI narration, or visual elements.
* **Record video:** Record directly in Clueso without leaving your project.
* **Upload file**: Upload an external file to include in your video. Learn more [here](/clips/insert-clips).
* **Import project**: Bring in content from another Clueso project. Learn more [here](/clips/clips/import).
Continue with the other tutorials in this series to dive deeper into how Clips work and how to make the most of them in your projects
# Customize Video Layout
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/clips/customize-video-layout
Learn how to resize, reposition, and fine-tune your video clips using the video clip panel.
> The video clip panel gives you more control over how video clips appear on your canvas. You can freely adjust the size and position of any clip, use exact values for precision, and apply layout changes consistently across clips.
Select the video clip you want to customize from your project timeline.
Drag any corner or edge of the video to resize it freely.
Drag the clip to your desired location on the canvas.
With the video clip selected, look to the left to find the Video Clip Panel.
* Enter specific values in the Position X and Position Y fields to align the clip precisely.
* Use the Size (%) fields to control the video's width and height.
* Click 'Fill to Screen' to make the video cover the entire background.
* Click 'Revert' to reset the video to its original size and position.
Once you've customized the video clip, click 'Apply to all clips' to maintain consistency across all scenes.
And that's how you can resize, reposition, and customize video clips in your project.
# Delete Clips
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/clips/delete-clips
Remove a clip from your video
At times, you may want to remove a clip from your project—whether it’s a mistake, an unnecessary section, or simply something you no longer need.
There are two ways to delete a clip in Clueso:
## Delete from the timeline
* Right-click on the clip in your timeline.
* Select Delete Clip.
## Delete from the script panel
* In the left-hand script panel, click the three-dot menu on the clip.
* Select Delete Clip.
**Note:** When you delete a clip, its script will also be removed. If you’d like to keep the script, copy it before deleting and paste it into the preceding or following clip.
And that’s it 🎉 — you’ve successfully deleted a clip from your Clueso project.
# Combine projects
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/clips/import
Import another project into your current project
In this guide, you’ll learn how to import an existing project into your current project—allowing you to merge multiple videos.
Hover over your timeline and find the **timestamp** where the imported project should go. Click that spot to place the playhead.

Click **Split Clip** to separate your timeline at that point. Anything you import will slot in between those two clips.

If you'd rather add the imported project at the **end** of your video, skip this step and continue below.
Click **Add Clip** at that point in your timeline.

In the clip options, choose **Import Project**.

From the project list, select the one you want to bring in, then click **Import**.

After a few moments, the imported project appears in your timeline — complete with all its clips, effects, and script. 🎉

You've now successfully combined two projects into one in Clueso. Importing lets you merge ideas, repurpose content, or collaborate across multiple projects.
### FAQs
No. Only the video clips, effects, and script from the selected project are
imported. The article associated with that project does not get merged into
your current project.
No. Importing adds the other project's clips into your timeline at the
chosen point. Your existing clips and edits remain unchanged.
Yes. You can repeat the process to import as many projects as you need into
your current project.
Yes. Once imported, the new clips behave just like any other clips in your
project — you can move, edit, or delete them as needed.
Only if you want the project inserted mid-video. To append it at the end, skip the split and go straight to **Add Clip → Import Project**.
# Upload files as clips
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/clips/insert-clips
Create clips from videos, slide decks, documents, and images
In this guide, you’ll learn how to insert external video footage into your Clueso project. This is useful if you want to mix in video content, slide decks, or images alongside your existing video.
Play through your video and pause at the point where you want the external clip to appear. Split the video at this point by clicking the **Split** button.

After splitting, click **Add Clip**.

You'll see multiple options, but for this article, we're uploading an external file.
Select **Upload file**.

Here, you can upload an MP4 video, a PPT/PDF file, or an image. For this example, we're uploading a video.

Clueso will take a few seconds to process your upload, understand the context of the new clip, and automatically generate a script for it. Once processed, the clip will appear in your project timeline.

## Next steps
* The uploaded clip will appear in your timeline along with its auto-generated script.
* You can edit this script as needed and then add an AI voiceover by selecting a voice and clicking Generate Speech.
* The clip can also be rearranged, trimmed, or enhanced with elements—just like any other part of your Clueso project.
And that’s it 🎉 You’ve successfully inserted an external clip into your project in just a few clicks.
# Lock a Video Clip
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/clips/lock-video-clips
Learn how to lock a video clip so it stays fixed on the canvas while you edit other elements.
> Locking a video clip keeps it fixed in place, preventing accidental movement or resizing while you work on other elements.
Click on the video clip you want to lock on the canvas.
You can lock the video clip in two ways:
* Use the Video Clip Customizer on the left and turn on the Lock toggle.
* Right-click the video clip and choose Lock.
Once locked, the video clip will no longer respond to clicks or drags. You can continue making changes to other elements on the canvas, like selecting, moving, or adjusting them, while the video behind stays fixed.
If you need to reposition or resize the video:
* Right-click on the video clip and select Unlock. The video becomes editable immediately.
And that’s how you can lock and unlock a video clip to keep your layout stable while editing.
# Remove background
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/clips/remove-video-background
Make your video clip fill the canvas so there's no background around it.
When your video clip and the canvas have different aspect ratios, Clueso adds a background around the clip to fill the gap. To remove it, match the canvas to your clip's original aspect ratio, then fit the clip to the canvas.
Click anywhere outside the canvas to deselect your clip. The right panel now shows the canvas settings.
In the right panel, open the aspect ratio dropdown. There are several options, but pick the original aspect ratio, which matches the canvas to your video clip's own dimensions.
Click the video clip on the canvas. The right panel switches to the clip's settings.
Click Fit to Canvas. Your clip fills the entire canvas, and the background around it is gone.
The background appears whenever the clip's aspect ratio doesn't match the canvas. Matching the canvas to the clip's original aspect ratio is what clears it and Fit to Canvas makes sure the clip covers the whole frame.
# Reorder clips
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/clips/reorder-clips
Change the order of clips in your video
To reorder a clip in your video, right-click on it from the timeline and choose **Move clip left** or **Move clip right** to reorder it in your video.
## Notes
* When you move a clip, its associated script and sync points move with it.
* Reordering does not delete or change content—it only changes the sequence.
* You can reorder both video clips and slide clips the same way.
# Comments
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/comments
Learn how to add contextual feedback directly inside your video
This guide shows you how to use Comments to review, collaborate, and share feedback without leaving the editor. Comments help keep feedback clear, organized, and directly tied to specific moments in your video.
## Adding Comments
Click on the **Comments** icon in the left-side toolbar to open the Comments panel. The editor enters **Comment mode**, which locks the timeline and transcript so you can focus on giving feedback.
Pause the video at the exact moment where feedback is needed, type your comment in the input at the bottom of the panel, and press **Send** (or hit Enter). The comment will automatically attach to that timestamp.
The **clock icon** next to the input controls whether a timestamp is attached. When active, a timestamp badge shows the current playhead time. Click the clock to toggle it off if your feedback applies to the entire video instead of a specific moment.
To make feedback more visual, drag over a section of the canvas you want to highlight while adding a comment. A **pin** will appear on the canvas at that location, and the highlighted area will be shown when the comment is selected.
## Viewing and Searching
The Comments panel shows all feedback on the project. Each comment displays the **author**, **timestamp**, and **time since posting**.
Use the **search bar** at the top to find comments by text or author name. Click the **filter icon** to reveal additional controls:
* **Status filter** — switch between **All**, **Open**, and **Resolved** comments
* **Sort order** — sort by **timeline position** (default), **newest**, or **oldest**
## Replying and Resolving
* **Reply** — click the **three-dot menu** (⋮) on any comment and select **Reply** to start a threaded conversation. Replies appear indented below the parent comment.
* **Resolve** — click the **checkmark icon** on a comment to mark it as resolved. Resolved comments are dimmed and can be filtered out.
* **Reopen** — if someone replies to a resolved comment, it automatically reopens.
## Editing and Deleting
You can manage your own comments via the **three-dot menu** (⋮):
* **Edit** — update the comment text. Press **Enter** to save or **Esc** to cancel. Edited comments show an "(edited)" badge.
* **Delete** — permanently remove the comment.
## Canvas Pins
Comments with a marked area appear as circular **pins** on the canvas:
* Pins show the author’s avatar or initials
* **Hover** a pin to see the highlighted area; **click** to open the full thread
* Pins are visible when the video is **paused** at the comment’s timestamp (±0.5 seconds)
* **Resolved** comment pins appear faded
* Pins can be **dragged** to reposition them on the canvas
## Tips
Clicking a comment in the panel automatically seeks the video to the matching timestamp, so you can see exactly what the feedback refers to.
Use **Shift+Enter** to add a new line inside a comment without sending it.
That’s how you use Comments to give clear, contextual feedback directly inside your video.
# Crop
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/crop
Learn how to crop videos and images to remove unwanted areas in Clueso
The crop tool allows you to remove unwanted areas from your videos and images, focusing attention on the most important parts of your content. This is especially useful for removing browser tab bars, OS taskbars, or any other distracting parts of a screen recording.
## Cropping Your Video
Follow these steps to crop unwanted areas from your video:
Start by clicking anywhere on the video clip you want to crop. The toolbar options will change to show video-specific controls.
Navigate to the **Crop** button in the toolbar and click on it.
A selection box appears over your video. Drag the **edges** or **corners** to resize the crop area, or drag the **center** to reposition it. The area outside the selection will be removed from the final output.
Use the **aspect ratio dropdown** to constrain the crop to a specific ratio:
* **Free** — drag freely in any direction
* **16:9** — standard widescreen
* **4:3** — classic monitor ratio
* **1:1** — square, great for social media
* **3:4** / **9:16** — portrait orientations
When a fixed ratio is selected, only the corner handles are available and the proportions stay locked.
Changed your mind? Click **Reset crop** to go back to the full, uncropped frame.
Once you're happy with the crop, click **Save Changes**.
## Cropping an Image Element
Image elements on your slides can be cropped the same way:
1. **Click** the image element on the canvas to select it.
2. Click **Crop** in the image toolbar — or **right-click** the image and choose **Crop** from the context menu.
3. Adjust the crop area, pick an aspect ratio if needed, and click **Done**.
When you crop a video clip that contains overlaid elements (text, shapes, etc.), those elements are automatically repositioned to stay within the new crop boundaries. Any element fully outside the crop area is removed.
## Common Use Cases
| Scenario | Suggested crop |
| ---------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| Remove browser tab bar from a screen recording | Drag the **top edge** down to hide the tab bar |
| Remove OS taskbar / dock | Drag the **bottom edge** up |
| Focus on a specific section of the screen | Drag all four sides inward |
| Reformat a landscape recording for mobile | Select the **9:16** aspect ratio |
| Create a square clip for social media | Select the **1:1** aspect ratio |
# Grouping & Components
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/grouping-and-components
Learn how to group elements, nest layouts, apply bulk updates, and create reusable components.
This guide explains how to group elements so they move and scale as a single unit. It also covers nesting groups, applying bulk updates to similar elements, and saving components that can be reused across projects.
## Create Groups
Grouping allows multiple elements to move, scale, and behave as a single unit.
Drag to select the elements you want to group.
Right-click and choose **Group selection** to combine them into a single unit.
Once grouped, the elements move and scale together while keeping their alignment intact.
## Nest Groups
Groups can also be nested to help organize more complex layouts.
Select existing groups and group them again to create a parent group.
In the timeline, you can see each group and what it contains, making it easier to manage larger layouts.
## Make Bulk Updates
Bulk editing allows you to update similar elements inside a group at once.
Select a group to access similar elements inside it.
Apply updates such as underline, font changes, or spacing adjustments across all matching elements. Bulk editing works for similar element types within the selected group.
## Create Components
Save frequently used layouts as reusable components.
Once your layout is ready, select the group and choose **Save as Component**.
Give it a clear name and click **Save Component**.
The saved component will appear under the **Elements** tab and can be reused across projects to maintain consistency.
That’s how you group elements, organize layouts, and create reusable components to work faster and stay consistent.
# Split and merge
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/split-merge
Split video clips and merge them back together.
You can break a clip into smaller sections for precise editing or combine clips back together when you want to edit them as one unit.
## Split
To split a clip:
1. Place your playhead in the timeline where you want to make the cut.
2. Click the **Split** button, or right-click the clip and click **Split clip**.
Things to note about splitting:
1. Slide clips cannot be split. Only video clips can be split.
2. Splitting a video clip will also split all associated elements (e.g., highlights, effects) and the script at the same point.
## Merge
Merging lets you combine clips back into a single clip after splitting.
There are two ways to merge:
1. Right-click on a clip in your timeline and click **Merge with previous **or**Merge with next** .
2. Place the playhead at the boundary between two clips and click **Merge**. After splitting, the **Split** button will automatically change to **Merge**.
### Conditions for merging
You can only merge two clips if:
1. Both clips are video clips (you cannot merge a slide clip with a video clip).
2. The two video clips come from the same source input.
3. You have not trimmed out any portion of the video between the two clips.
# Set a default template
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/templates/default-templates
Set default intro and outro templates that are automatically added to every new video.
Setting a default template helps you save time by automatically applying your chosen Intro or Outro to every new video made by your team.
Go to the **Templates** section from the left panel.
Click **View all** next to **Intro** or **Outro** to see all of your saved templates in that category.
Hover over the template you want to use, click the **three dots** (•••) menu, and select **Set as default**.
Your selected template is now set as the default and will automatically apply to new videos.
Only templates labeled as **Intro** and **Outro** can be set as default, because these are the only ones automatically added when you create a new video.
# Delete templates
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/templates/delete-templates
How to delete a template you no longer need
You can delete templates you no longer use to keep your workspace clean and organized.
Click the **Templates** button in the left-side toolbar and switch to the **Saved** tab. You'll see all your saved templates here.
Hover over the template you want to remove. Click the **three-dot menu** (⋮) that appears on the card. From the dropdown, select **Delete template**.
A confirmation modal appears warning that the template will be permanently deleted from your saved templates.
* Click **Delete** to permanently remove the template
* Click **Keep** to cancel and go back
## Important Notes
* **Deleting a template does not affect existing projects** — any videos that already use the template will keep their current content unchanged.
* **Deleted templates cannot be recovered** — but you can always recreate them by saving a clip again.
* **Default templates cannot be deleted** — if a template is set as the default intro or outro, you must first remove it as the default before deleting it.
* **Deleting a folder** removes the folder but moves all templates inside it to "All saved" — they are not deleted.
Before deleting, consider whether anyone on your team is still using the template. Since templates are shared across the workspace, removing one affects everyone.
# Create templates
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/templates/saving-templates
Build your own templates and save them for future use
Templates let you save your frequently used intros, outros, and slides so you can reuse them in future videos without starting from scratch.
## Creating an intro template
Let’s start with an example: modifying the intro slide on a video and saving it as a template.
Place your playhead on the intro clip in the timeline to display the intro slide in the video editor.
Click on the **Replace Background** option to begin customizing your intro.
Pick a background color, select from the library, or upload your own image/video using **Upload Media**.
Add your brand elements: update the logo, text, or images as needed to match your branding style.
From the left menu, go to **Templates** > **Save current clip as template**.
* Ensure the label is set to *Intro*.
* (*Optional*) Set it as the default Intro template. If you do this, it will be automatically applied in future videos.
* Click **Save clip**.
Your intro template now appears under **Templates > My Templates > Intro.**
Any templates you save will be visible under **My Templates**. Pre-made templates provided by Clueso come in **Library**.
## Creating an outro template
To create an outro template, follow the same steps as above, but this time:
1. Select the **Outro clip** in the timeline.
2. Adjust the background, logo, and text.
3. Label the template as *Outro*.
4. (Optional) Set it as the default Outro.
Your outro template will appear under **Templates > My Templates > Outro** and is ready to reuse.
## Creating a generic slide template
Generic slide templates are useful for **chapter breaks, content slides, or reusable branded layouts** that aren’t tied to intros/outros.
1. Above the timeline, click **Add Clip > Blank Clip**.
2. Open the **Background** panel and select a background color, image, or upload your own.
3. Add placeholder text, logos, or icons that you want to reuse across slides.
4. Go to **Templates** > **Save current clip as template**.
* Choose from the available labels to categorize your template
5. You’ll now find it under **Templates > My Templates** under the label category you've set.
The next time you add a slide, you can instantly insert this template instead of rebuilding it from scratch.
## FAQs
Only **slide clips** can be saved as templates. A clip created with a foreground video cannot be saved as a template.
If you want to save a clip with a video as a template:
* Create a slide clip by selecting **Add Blank Clip**
* Add your video as a **Background video**.
Open a clip created from your saved template, make the changes you want, then save it again:
* Use the same name to replace the existing template, or
* Use a new name to save it as a variation.
(Optional) If you no longer need the original version, you can delete it from **My Templates** to keep things organized.
Yes, all templates you save will be visible to everyone in your workspace.
No, templates are shared automatically with everyone in your workspace.
Make sure you are in **My Templates**, not the **Library**.\
Also check that you saved it under the correct category (Intro, Outro, or Slide).\
If you still don’t see it, refresh the editor and check again under **My Templates**.
* **My Templates**: Custom templates you’ve created.
* **Library**: Pre-made templates provided by Clueso.
Only **Intro** and **Outro** templates can be set as default.\
Other slides cannot, so the **Set as Default** button won’t appear.

# Transitions
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/transitions
Add transitions between clips
Transitions make your videos smoother and more engaging by adding visual effects between two clips. Instead of jumping abruptly from one clip to the next, you can apply a transition to create a seamless flow — whether it’s a dissolve, wipe, slide, or color fade.
## Adding a Transition
Click the **Transitions** button in the left-side toolbar to open the transitions panel. You’ll see all available transition effects with preview thumbnails.
Click on the transition you want to apply. The available styles are:
| Transition | Effect |
| ----------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Circle wipe** | Circle expands from the center to reveal the next clip |
| **Rainbow wipe** | Colored circle wipe from a corner |
| **Corner wipe** | Circle wipe from a selected corner |
| **Color wipe** | Multi-colored horizontal or vertical wipe |
| **Stack** | Next clip slides in from an edge (top, bottom, left, or right) |
| **Dissolve** | Cross-fade between both clips |
| **Push & pull** | Current clip zooms out and slides away, next clip slides in |
| **Fade to color** | Fades to a solid color, then fades into the next clip |
Hover over any transition card to preview the effect before selecting it.
After selecting a transition, the settings panel appears on the right with controls to customize it.
## Transition Settings
Once a transition is applied, you can fine-tune it in the right panel:
* **Duration** — set how long the transition lasts, from **0.1** to **5 seconds** (default is 0.5s). Use the input field or click **Reset** to restore the default.
* **Direction** — for transitions that support it (Stack, Corner wipe, Color wipe), choose the direction:
* **Corner directions**: top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right
* **Side directions**: left, right, top, bottom
* **Horizontal**: left, right
* **Color** — for Color wipe and Fade to color, pick a custom color using the color picker.
* **Apply to all clips** — toggle this on to apply the same transition between every clip in the video at once.

# Trim
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/trimming
Trim out portions of your video
In this guide, you’ll learn how to trim out any portion of your video in Clueso. Trimming is useful for cutting out visuals that you don’t want to include in your final video.
Play through your video and pause at the moment where the section you want to trim begins. Place your cursor here.
Click **Split** to divide the video at this point.
Now, play forward until the section you want to cut ends. Place your cursor here and click **Split** again.
You'll notice that the script for that clip also gets divided in the left side menu.
To delete a clip, either right-click it in the timeline and choose **Delete Clip**, or open the three-dot menu next to the clip in the script panel and select **Delete Clip.**
**Note**: If you want to preserve the script from the deleted clip, copy and paste it into the clip above or below before trimming. If you don’t need the script, simply continue with the trim.
And that's it! You've successfully trimmed a section of your video.
# Version history
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clips/version-history
Learn how to check and restore previous versions of your Clueso project
In this article, you'll learn how to check 'Version history' of your Clueso project. This is helpful when you need to check and restore any previous version of the Clueso project.
Follow these steps to access and restore previous versions:
Start by navigating to the **File** menu in the top-left corner of the editor.
From there, click on **Version History**.
On the right side, you'll see all the previous versions of your project, grouped by date (Today, Yesterday, etc.).
Clueso keeps saving all your changes automatically.
Each version shows the time it was saved and who made the change. Your current version is marked with a green dot.
To check an older version of your preference, simply click on it. Clueso
will load the video and step-by-step article from the selected version.
The selected version is highlighted with a yellow dot, and a banner at the top shows which version you're viewing.
If you want to restore a particular version, simply select and open that
version, then click on **Restore**. You can click Restore either in the version panel or in the banner at the top.
After clicking on **Restore**, Clueso will restore the version you selected.
Now, your current version is the selected restored version of the project.
That's how you check and restore a previous version.
## FAQs
If you can't undo, try to revert from the version history. You won't be able
to undo after an AI operation like AI rewrite or Generate speech. In such
cases revert back to the previous version.
# Edit with chat
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clueso-agent/Edit-with-chat
Use Clueso Agent inside the editor to refine your video by describing what you want changed
Once your video is in the editor — whether you created it with a prompt, a screen recording, or an upload, you can open Clueso Agent to make changes by chatting.
## Opening Clueso Agent in the editor
Click the **Agent** button on the right panel or use the floating button. You can also press **Cmd+I** (or **Ctrl+I** on Windows) to open it quickly.
Type your instruction. Be specific. Name the clip and describe the change you want.
**Ask it to look.** Clueso Agent can view the frames it has built. "Look at clip 4 and tell me if anything's off" is genuinely useful. It will often spot a spacing or contrast problem you couldn't easily describe.
## How to give good feedback
The key is being specific. Instead of describing a vague feeling, point at the exact clip and say what needs to change.
**Good examples:**
* "Clip 3 — the title text is too small and the background should be darker."
* "Move the logo to the bottom right on the last slide."
* "The narration on clip 5 is too long — cut it to two sentences."
* "Add a zoom effect when I click the settings button in clip 2."
**Less helpful:**
* "This doesn't look right."
* "Can you make it better?"
* "Fix it."
## Keep what's working
If you like 90% of the video, say so, then describe the 10% you want changed. If you ask for a full rebuild, you risk losing the parts that were already working.
**Good:** "This is great overall. Just two things, clip 2 needs a darker background, and the outro text should say 'Learn more' instead of 'Get started'."
**Risky:** "Start over, I don't like the style."
## Use undo
Every message you send has an undo button. If the last few changes made things worse, roll back to before them rather than trying to describe your way out.
## Change direction anytime
It's completely fine to pivot mid-build. "Actually, forget the intro — start at the demo" works at any point. You don't need to start a new conversation.
## What Clueso Agent can adjust
Once a video is built, you can ask it to:
* Rewrite or shorten the script on any clip
* Change the voiceover voice or regenerate speech
* Adjust colours, fonts, and backgrounds
* Move, resize, or restyle elements
* Add or remove animations and effects
* Reorder, split, or merge clips
* Add or change background music
* Add captions or adjust their style

# Create a Video with Chat
Source: https://help.clueso.io/clueso-agent/create-with-chat
Use Clueso Agent to build a video from scratch by describing what you want
Clueso Agent is the AI that builds videos and articles for you inside Clueso. You describe what you want, it does the work — writes the script, generates the voiceover, lays out every slide, adds music, and hands you a finished project you can still edit by hand.
## Here's how
From the [Clueso home screen](https://web.clueso.io), click \*\*Create with prompt \*\*to open the prompt page.

Describe the video you want to create in the text box. Be specific - include the topic, your audience, and the key points you want covered.
The better your prompt, the less editing you'll need afterwards. See [best practices](/ai-tools/clueso-agent/best-practices) for tips on writing a good first message.
Click the **+** button next to the prompt input to add supporting material:
* **Upload a file** — video, PDF, PowerPoint, Word, or text files
* **Add an existing Clueso project** — use a previous project as a starting point
* **Add a Clueprint** — use a pre-designed template for structure and styling
Then use the **model dropdown** to select which AI model generates your video. Different models produce different levels of detail — and cost different amounts per message.

Clueprints handle layout, design, and structure for you — they're the fastest way to get a polished result. [Learn more about clueprints](/clips/templates/templates).
Use the dropdowns to configure your video:
* **Duration** — Auto, 1 min, 1–3 mins, 3–5 mins, 5–7 mins, or 7+ mins
* **Tone** — Auto, Professional, Friendly, Educational, Playful, Marketing, Serious, or Casual

These help the AI tailor the script length and writing style to your needs.
Hit **Create**. Clueso Agent generates a script, builds the slides, and sets up a full video draft. You'll be taken into the editor where you can refine everything — or keep chatting to make changes.
## What Clueso Agent can build
* Make a video from scratch, from an idea, or from a template
* Turn a PowerPoint, Word doc, or PDF into a video
* Turn a screen recording into a polished product demo
* Write a help-centre article alongside the video (or instead of it)
* Write the script, generate the voiceover, add background music
* Lay out every slide — text, shapes, images, colours, fonts
* Animate elements and transitions
## Starter prompts you can copy
### Product announcement
> Make a 30-second announcement video for the launch of \[feature]. Audience is existing customers who already use \[product]. Modern and premium — this should feel like a product launch, not a tutorial. Use our brand colours (navy #1A3D7C and white) and keep the animation subtle. Focus on the outcome for the user, not a feature list. Ending frame: our logo plus "Available now." Logo attached.
### Logo animation
> Create a 5-second logo reveal from the attached logo. Keep the logo exactly as it is — don't redesign or recolour it. Style: minimal and premium, white background, one accent colour taken from the logo. The wordmark should appear after the mark, not at the same time. No sound.
### Turning a deck into a video
> Here's our pitch deck (attached). Turn it into a 90-second explainer video. Keep the slide order but cut the detail — one idea per clip. Confident, plain-English narration, no buzzwords. Use the deck's own colours and fonts. Skip the team and pricing slides.
### Screen recording into a demo
> I've attached a screen recording of our dashboard. Turn it into a 45-second product demo for prospects who've never seen the product. Trim the dead time at the start, zoom in when I click into the reports section, and write narration that explains what I'm doing and why it matters. Add light background music.
### Help article
> Write a help-centre article explaining how to \[do the thing], based on the attached recording. Audience is non-technical end users. Numbered steps, screenshots for each step, short sentences. No video needed.

# Blurs with keyframes
Source: https://help.clueso.io/elements/keyframe-blurs
Learn how to move blurs in your video
Blurs are a simple way to hide sensitive information in your video.
However, if the information you're blurring moves (for example, during a scroll), a fixed blur will not stay in place and the sensitive information becomes visible.
In Clueso, you can solve for this by using keyframes to make your blurs move.
**Definition**: A keyframe is a marker in the video timeline that defines the position and size of an element at that specific point in time.
Follow these steps to move blurs using keyframes:
Once you add a blur to your video, click on the **Add Keyframe** button.
\
You'll notice that a marker indicating the keyframe automatically appears in the timeline.\
This keyframe defines the position and size of the blur at this specific point in the timeline.
Add multiple keyframes across your video to blur out the sensitive information as it moves.\
To do this, move to different timestamps in the timeline and adjust the size and position of the blur to cover the sensitive information at that specific timestamp.\
Clueso will automatically add new keyframe markers in the timeline at these timestamps.
Once you're satisfied with the placement of your keyframes, play the entire video.\
You'll see that the blur moves to effectively hide your sensitive information.
If you still see any point where the sensitive information is visible, go to that point in the video and move the blur to add a keyframe.\
In this manner, add as many keyframes as you need at different timestamps to effectively hide your sensitive information.
**Tip for pros**: The position and size of the blur at any point in between two keyframes will be a linear interpolation of the position and size at the preceding and succeeding keyframes.

## Supported Font Formats
Clueso supports the following font file formats:
| Format | Extension | Description |
| ---------------------------- | --------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **TrueType** | `.ttf` | Most common font format, widely supported |
| **OpenType** | `.otf` | Advanced typography features, supports ligatures and alternates |
| **Web Open Font Format** | `.woff` | Compressed format optimized for web use |
| **Web Open Font Format 2.0** | `.woff2` | Better compression than WOFF, recommended for web |
## Font Weights and Variants
When you upload a font, Clueso automatically detects the available font weights (e.g., Regular, Bold, Light). If the font file contains multiple weights, they'll all be available in the **weight dropdown** when styling your text.
For fonts with a single weight, only that weight will be available. To use multiple weights of the same font family, upload each weight as a separate file with a descriptive name (e.g., "Brand Sans Light", "Brand Sans Bold").
## Typography Controls
When a text element is selected, the Typography section in the right panel provides full control over:
* **Font family** — click the font name to open the picker
* **Font size** — set in pixels
* **Font weight** — Regular, Bold, Light, etc. (depends on available weights)
* **Line height** — spacing between lines
* **Letter spacing** — spacing between characters
* **Text alignment** — left, center, right, justify
* **Text decoration** — underline, strikethrough
## Using Your Custom Fonts
Once uploaded, your custom fonts are available everywhere fonts appear:
* **Text elements** on the video canvas — select any text and change its font
* **Visual style picker** — when creating a new video from a prompt, you can override the template's default font
* **All projects** — custom fonts are shared across your entire workspace
## Managing Custom Fonts
* **Delete a font** — hover over a custom font in the font picker and click the delete icon
* **Search fonts** — use the search bar at the top of the font picker to quickly find any font
Upload your brand's primary font so it appears at the top of the **Saved** tab. This makes it easy for your team to stay on-brand without scrolling through the full library.
Use `.woff2` format when possible — it offers the best compression and fastest loading times.
## FAQs

Text elements allow you to add titles, captions, and other written content to your videos. You can customize fonts, colors, styling, and timing to create professional-looking text overlays.
## Adding Text Elements
To add text to your video:
1. Click the **Text** tool (T icon) in the left sidebar, or press **T** on your keyboard
2. Click anywhere on the canvas — or click and drag to draw a text box at a specific size
3. A text editor opens immediately at that position. Start typing to enter your text.
## Typography
The **Typography** section in the right panel controls how your text looks:
* **Font**: Choose from Google Fonts or upload your own custom font
* **Font Size**: Adjust size in pixels
* **Font Weight**: Select a weight (400, 500, 600, 700, or custom variants depending on the font)
* **Text Alignment**: Left, Center, or Right
* **Text Decoration**: None, Underline, or Strike-through
* **Line Height**: Control vertical spacing between lines (50–200%)
* **Letter Spacing**: Adjust spacing between characters (−50 to 200%)
## Fill
The **Fill** section controls the text color:
* Pick a **solid color** using the color picker or enter a hex code
* Switch to **gradient** mode for gradient-filled text
* Adjust **opacity** (0–100%)
* Use the **eyedropper** tool to sample a color from the canvas
## Stroke
Toggle the **Stroke** section to add an outline around your text:
* **Width**: Control outline thickness (0–30 px)
* **Color**: Choose the outline color
Useful for making text stand out against complex backgrounds.
## Background
Toggle the **Background** section to add a colored box behind your text:
* **Type**: Choose between **Multi lines** (background on each line separately) or **Single box** (one background behind all lines)
* **Padding**: Space between text and background edge (0–100)
* **Corner Radius**: Roundness of the background corners (0–100)
* **Color**: Background color with opacity control
## Shadow
Toggle the **Shadow** section to add a drop shadow to your text:
* **X / Y Position**: Offset the shadow horizontally and vertically
* **Blur**: Control shadow softness (0–30)
* **Color**: Shadow color with opacity control
## Smart Duration
Enable the **Smart Duration** toggle to automatically adjust text duration based on reading time. When enabled, the text element's duration is calculated so viewers have enough time to read the content. If there isn't enough time left in the clip, a warning will appear.
When Smart Duration is off, you can set timing manually:
* Set specific **Start Time** and **End Time** in the Layout section
* Alternatively, drag the text element on the timeline to adjust timing visually
## Tips for Effective Text
* Keep text concise and readable
* Use high contrast between text and background colors
* Consider your audience's reading speed when setting duration
* Use consistent typography across your video for brand consistency
# Video element
Source: https://help.clueso.io/elements/video
Learn how to add a video on top of your canvas as an independent, movable element
Video elements let you layer a video directly on your canvas, on top of your existing clip. Unlike a background video or a separate clip, a video element sits as an overlay you can freely position, resize, and animate.
Open the media panel from the left panel and click Upload, in either the In this project or Workspace tab.
To add it to your canvas, click the video and choose **Video as element** from the three options. It lands on your canvas as an overlay.\\
Drag the video element to where you want it on the canvas and use the corner handles to resize it.
Select the element to open the right panel. It has three tabs: Properties for border, radius, and opacity, Audio for volume and Animation for entry and exit effects.
The video element carries its own audio. For a visual-only overlay, mute it from the timeline.
# Add zoom
Source: https://help.clueso.io/elements/zooms/add-zoom
Add zoom effects to your videos
Zoom effects let you focus attention on specific parts of your video by magnifying areas of interest — perfect for highlighting a button, guiding users through a complex step, or making sure nothing important gets missed.
Look at the timeline at the bottom of your screen. Place the playhead to the exact moment where you want the zoom to appear.
Click on **Effects** on the left panel
Select Zoom. The effect will appear on your timeline at the position of the playhead.
Drag the edges of the zoom effect on the timeline to control how long it stays on screen.
Adjust the zoom center to set the focus and position of your zoom. Use the scale slider to control how strong the zoom feels.
Switch to the **Animation** tab to control how the zoom enters and exits. Click on the time field and use the up and down arrow keys on your keyboard, or type in the duration directly.
Not happy with the placement? You can drag the zoom effect along the timeline to reposition it at any time.
## FAQs

# Video basics
Source: https://help.clueso.io/getting-started/video-basics
Create your first video in Clueso
In this guide, you’ll learn how to take a rough screen recording and turn it into a polished, studio-quality video using Clueso.
From the [home screen](https://web.clueso.io), start by recording your screen, uploading a video, or importing a slide deck.
Once the processing is complete, Clueso will take you to the video editor with a first draft of your video. At this stage, your video will still play with its original audio.
* On the left-hand panel, you’ll see the script Clueso generated based on your recording.
* You can freely **edit this script**, add new sentences, fix mistakes, or rewrite sections.
* Any changes you make to the script will be reflected in the AI voiceover once you hit **Generate Speech**.
This means you don’t need to re-record your video just because you missed a point or stumbled during recording.
In Clueso, **sync points** make sure your voiceover stays perfectly aligned with your video.
When you click a sync point, you’ll see the frame from the video that plays at that point in the script.
Clueso automatically creates these sync points, linking your script directly to the right frames in your video.
Take a moment to review all your sync points. Clueso places them intelligently throughout your script, but if one looks off or is missing, you can always add or edit a sync point.
**Further reading:** To learn more about how to work with sync points in your script and ensure sync between the voiceover and video, check out [this guide](/sync-points/sync-point-basics/add-sync-points).
* Click on the name of the voice, then **Change Voice** to browse Clueso’s AI voice library.
* You’ll find a variety of voices in different accents.
* Use the **Accents** dropdown to filter options and pick the one you like best.
* After picking a voice, click on **Generate Speech**.
* Clueso will replace your original audio with the AI voiceover, perfectly synced to your updated script.
* Once generation is complete, play the video to review the new version.
From the **Elements** tab on the left, insert highlights, callouts, or effects to make your video more engaging.
Play through the final version of your video to make sure everything looks and sounds exactly the way you want.
And that's it! 🎉 You've successfully transformed a rough screen recording into a professional studio-quality video.
# Analytics
Source: https://help.clueso.io/home/analytics
Tracking data on your videos
Clueso Analytics helps you measure the impact of your content and understand how your audience engages with your videos and articles.
To access Analytics, click **Analytics** in the left sidebar from the home screen.
## Overview metrics
At the top of the page, you'll see three key metrics for the selected time period:
* **Impressions** — the number of times your content was opened, regardless of whether the video was watched.
* **Plays** — the number of unique video plays per viewing session. Rewatches in the same session are not counted.
* **Play rate** — the percentage of impressions that resulted in a video play.
Below these metrics, an **Impressions vs Plays** chart shows how both values trend over time, making it easy to spot patterns and changes in engagement.
## Filtering your data
Use the filters at the top of the page to narrow down your analytics:
* **Project filter** — select a specific project or view data across all projects.
* **Date range** — choose from preset ranges (Last 7 days, Last 14 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days) or set a custom date range.
When you select a specific project, the page shows additional data like audience retention for that video.
## Your top content
The **Your top content in this period** table ranks your projects by performance. For each project, you can see:
| Column | Description |
| ------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Project name** | The name and creation date of the project |
| **Impressions** | Total number of times the content was opened |
| **Plays** | Total number of video plays |
| **Average play duration** | How long viewers watched on average, shown as both a timestamp and a percentage of the video |
Click any column header to sort the table. You can also **Download CSV** to export this data for further analysis.
## Audience retention
When you filter to a **specific project**, an audience retention section appears. This shows:
* **Average watch duration** — how long viewers watched on average, and what percentage of the video that represents.
* **Retention curve** — a chart showing the percentage of viewers still watching at each point in the video.
* **Drop-off indicator** — pinpoints the exact moment where the average viewer stopped watching.
Use this to identify which parts of your video hold attention and where viewers lose interest.
## Breakdown by location
The **Breakdown by location** table shows where your viewers are located. Each country is listed with its total impression count and a visual bar showing its share relative to the others.
Click the column headers to sort by country name or impression count.
## Search analytics
The **Search analytics** table shows what your audience is searching for in your help center. For each search, you can see:
| Column | Description |
| ------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Date** | When the search was performed |
| **Search query** | The term the user searched for |
| **Clicked result** | Which guide the user clicked on after searching, or "—" if they didn't click any result |
This helps you understand what topics your audience is looking for, and whether your existing content answers their questions. Searches with no clicked result may indicate content gaps you should fill.
# Create a project
Source: https://help.clueso.io/home/creation/creation-options
Learn the different ways to start a new project in Clueso.
When you open the [home screen](https://web.clueso.io), you'll see multiple ways to create a project on Clueso.
You can start a project by bringing in existing material:
Describe what you want to create in plain language and Clueso will generate a video for you — no recording needed.
Trigger a screen recording directly from Clueso.
Import a video file you already have, and Clueso will transform it into a polished, professional video.
Upload multiple PDFs or PPTX files in one go. Clueso will automatically turn them into a video presentation.
To record your screen, make sure you have the Clueso Chrome extension installed. If not, follow [this tutorial](/screen-recording/installation.mdx).
No matter which method you choose, always set the **input language** of the
file you upload or the recording you capture. This helps Clueso process your
content accurately.
You can also start fresh with a blank project:
1. Click on **New Project**.
2. Select **Start blank project**.
This option gives you a clean slate to build your video from scratch using Clueso's editor.

## Verify the connection
After setup, confirm the Clueso MCP server is working:
1. **Look for the Clueso tool** in your AI assistant's tools or connectors panel.
2. **Run a test prompt**, for example:
> "Show me my most recently updated Clueso project."
3. Your AI assistant should ask you to **approve a tool call**. Click **Allow** (or **Approve**) and wait for the response.
If the connection is successful, you'll see a list of your Clueso projects returned in the chat.
If the connection fails or times out, try restarting your AI assistant and re-authorizing. Make sure you're signed into Clueso in your browser.
***
## What you can do with Clueso MCP
Once connected, you can ask your AI assistant to:
"Create a new video called 'How to reset your password'."
"Add a voiceover to the first clip of my onboarding guide."
"Export my 'Getting Started' project as a video."
"Update the article in my 'API Docs' project with this new content."
***
## Tools available
Your AI assistant can call the following Clueso tools once connected. You don't need to memorize them — just describe what you want and your assistant will pick the right ones. This list is provided as a reference for what's possible.
### Find and browse
| Tool | What it does |
| ------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `find` | Search or list anything in your workspace by type — projects, folders, clueprints, workspaces, voices, backgrounds, AI image-generation styles, saved components, and media (images, videos, music, sound effects). Filter by name, or leave the search term off to list everything of a type. For example: `find(type='projects')`, `find(type='music', query='upbeat')`, `find(type='voices', language='en')`, or `find(type='images', query='city skyline', provider='pixabay', image_type='illustration')`. |
| `switch_workspace` | Switch the active workspace for the current session. |
Two things `find` reaches beyond your own workspace:
* **Stock libraries.** Media searches cover both your saved library and stock providers, and your assistant picks the library with `provider`: **Pexels** for realistic photos and real-world footage (the default), **Pixabay** for illustrations, vectors, icons and motion graphics (narrowed with `image_type` or `video_type`), **Clueso's curated catalog** for brand-safe music and sound effects, and **Freesound** for niche tracks and a vast sound-effect library. Scope the search with `source` (`'org'`, `'stock'`, or `'all'`), and narrow stock results by orientation, color, size, or clip length.
* **The community clueprint library.** Searching clueprints ranks matches across your workspace *and* the public community library, so your assistant can start from a template someone else published.
### Projects
| Tool | What it does |
| ------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `create_project` | Create a new project. It starts with one blank clip, ready for content. |
| `get_project` | Read a project's structure — canvas size, clips, durations, element counts, and audio tracks. |
| `update_project` | Rename a project, edit its description, move it between folders, or change its aspect ratio. |
| `duplicate_project` | Clone an entire project into a fresh, independent copy. |
Aspect ratio accepts any `W:H` you ask for, not just the presets — 16:9 for web, 9:16 for Reels/Shorts/TikTok, 1:1 or 4:5 for feed posts, 3:4 for portrait cards. Element positions are stored as fractions of the canvas, so everything reflows onto the new shape automatically when you switch.
### Clips
| Tool | What it does |
| ---------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `add_clips` | Add clips to a project — blank slides, PowerPoint slides, or cuts from a video/audio file. Set each clip's background and entrance transition as you add it. |
| `get_clip` | Inspect a clip and optionally return a rendered preview. Ask for only the fields you need to keep responses lean. |
| `update_clips` | Update one or many clips in a single call — backgrounds, durations, titles, visibility, or entrance transitions. Can also reorder clips, and reposition, resize, crop or frame the recording inside a video clip. |
| `split_clip` | Split a video clip into two at a chosen point. |
| `remove_clip` | Delete a clip from a project. |
| `duplicate_clip` | Clone a clip — within the same project, or from another project. |
### Elements (everything layered onto a clip)
| Tool | What it does |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `add_elements` | Place elements onto one or more clips in a single call. Text is auto-measured so it fits its box. |
| `update_elements` | Edit the position, size, timing, or content of existing elements. Text can be re-fit to a target number of lines automatically. |
| `remove_elements` | Remove one or more elements, across one or more clips, in a single call. |
| `reorder_elements` | Change the z-order (front-to-back stacking) of elements inside a clip. |
| `remove_from_project` | Remove a single element from a clip, or a music/SFX track from a project. |
| `get_element_schema` | Show the properties available for a given element type. |
| `generate_media` | Generate an AI image or a code-based animation directly into a clip. |
Ten element types are available: **text**, **callout**, **rectangle**, **arrow**, **image**, **video** (picture-in-picture, b-roll or a background loop over an existing clip), **animation**, plus three built for demo footage — **zoom**, **spotlight** and **blur** (for masking sensitive data on screen).
Elements can be animated. Pass keyframes to `add_elements` or `update_elements` to move and resize an element over time, with a choice of interpolation between points.
For AI-generated visuals, `generate_media` covers both directions: text-to-image (optionally steered by one of your workspace's generation style presets, or grounded on a reference image) and prompt-to-animation, which can reuse a saved animation as its starting point and time itself against a voiceover script. Generation runs in the background — the element appears immediately and fills in once rendered.
### Voiceover and audio
| Tool | What it does |
| ----------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `voiceover_batch` | Set voiceover scripts and/or generate AI speech for any number of clips in one call. |
| `set_voice` | Set the AI narration voice across every clip in a project. |
| `add_audio` | Add background music or a sound effect that plays across the whole project — from a stock `find` result or an uploaded audio file, with control over volume, fades, timing, trimming, and looping. |
| `update_audio` | Adjust an existing music or SFX track — volume, fades, timing, or looping. |
| `analyze_audio` | Inspect an audio file: transcript with word-level timestamps, silent regions, tempo and beat positions, or loudness and duration. |
Generating speech re-times the clip to the length of the spoken audio. Ask for the voiceover before placing time-sensitive elements, or use `estimate_duration` first, so your timings match the final length.
### Sync (for video clips with source recordings)
| Tool | What it does |
| ---------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `auto_sync` | Detect natural sync points in a recording (UI state changes, narrated steps) and insert them automatically. |
| `add_sync_point` | Pin a specific word in the voiceover to a specific moment in the underlying recording. |
### Articles
| Tool | What it does |
| ---------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `get_article` | Read the article tied to a project. |
| `update_article` | Edit the article's markdown content. |
| `add_article_media` | Add a screenshot or GIF (from the project's video or an uploaded image) to the article. |
| `update_article_media` | Inspect a screenshot, or edit its zoom, crop, or annotation shapes. |
### Recording
| Tool | What it does |
| --------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `record_screen` | Have Clueso record your product on screen. Describe the run as a list of scenes — each one narrated or silent b-roll, with its own script, pacing, and voice — and Clueso captures them as clips. |
`record_screen` uses Clueso's **auto-recording agent**, which requires a specific plan. If it isn't part of your plan yet, reach out to our team — via the in-app chat, email, or your shared channel — or visit [clueso.io/agents](https://www.clueso.io/agents) to explore it.
### Files and assets
| Tool | What it does |
| --------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ |
| `upload_file` | Upload a file (image, video, audio, PPTX) to your workspace. |
| `check_uploads` | Retrieve the files a user dropped on a hosted upload link. |
There are three ways to get a file in, and your assistant picks whichever fits where the file lives:
* **A file on your machine** — Clueso returns an upload link and a one-line command; a coding assistant can run it for you.
* **A file already on the web** — pass the URL and Clueso fetches it directly, no interaction needed.
* **Several files at once** — Clueso returns a shareable upload page you open in your browser and drop files onto, then `check_uploads` collects them all.
### Clueprints and design reference
| Tool | What it does |
| ------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `create_clueprint` | Save a project as a reusable clueprint (a video template). |
| `get_clueprint` | Read a clueprint's metadata, file tree, or specific files. |
| `update_clueprint` | Edit a clueprint's metadata, write new files, or delete existing files in one call. |
| `get_design_guide` | Read Clueso's house style for composing clips — concept, typography, color, composition, motion and pacing. Your assistant reads this before designing a clip from scratch, so output looks like Clueso rather than a slide deck. |
### Collaboration
| Tool | What it does |
| ------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `add_comment` | Leave a review comment on a project, or pin one to a specific clip and timestamp. |
### Export
| Tool | What it does |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| `estimate_duration` | Estimate voiceover duration for one or more clips from their script text. |
| `export_project` | Render and export a project as a video. Defaults to 1080p and 30fps with no captions; ask for a different resolution, frame rate, burned-in captions, or language. |
Exports run in the background — your assistant hands back straight away, and the finished video appears in the **Exports** tab of the editor.
Alongside these tools, the Clueso MCP server publishes reference material your assistant can pull in on demand — how to author a clueprint, how to write animation prompts, how sync points work, how generation styles steer images, and the full property schema for every element type. You don't need to request these; the assistant reads them when relevant.
***
## Combine tools for end-to-end workflows
The real power of Clueso MCP comes from chaining these tools together. Your AI assistant can call several tools in sequence to complete a full workflow — no manual hand-offs, no copying assets between tools. Just describe the outcome you want, and the assistant figures out which tools to call and in what order.
A few examples:
* **"Turn this slide deck into a narrated explainer video."** Uploads the PPTX (`upload_file`), creates a project (`create_project`), imports each slide as a clip (`add_clips` with `kind=pptx`), generates AI narration per slide (`voiceover_batch`), then renders the final video (`export_project`).
* **"Build a product release video from this changelog."** Creates a project (`create_project`), adds blank clips (`add_clips` with `kind=blank`), drops in headlines and AI illustrations (`add_elements`, `generate_media`), generates a voiceover from the script (`voiceover_batch`), and exports it (`export_project`).
* **"Convert this Loom recording into a polished Clueso guide."** Uploads the recording (`upload_file`), adds it as a clip (`add_clips` with `kind=video`), detects steps automatically (`auto_sync`), layers titles and zoom callouts (`add_elements`), regenerates cleaner narration (`voiceover_batch`), and exports the result (`export_project`).
* **"Make five persona-specific versions of this video from our base template."** Reads the template's design (`get_clueprint`), spawns five copies of a base project (`duplicate_project` × 5), tweaks the voiceover script per persona (`voiceover_batch`), and exports all five (`export_project`).
* **"Repurpose this landscape explainer as a vertical short for Reels."** Clones the project (`duplicate_project`), switches it to a 9:16 aspect ratio so elements reflow onto the portrait canvas (`update_project`), nudges any callouts that drift off-frame (`update_elements`), and exports the vertical cut (`export_project`).
* **"Refresh every onboarding video with our new brand colors."** Walks your workspace (`find` with `type=projects` → `get_project`), updates each clip background and element style in place (`update_clips`, `update_elements`), and re-exports the affected videos (`export_project`).

# Recording best practices
Source: https://help.clueso.io/screen-recording/recording-best-practices
Tips to follow while capturing screen recordings to get the best outputs
Here are a few pointers to keep in mind to get the best outputs with Clueso when you're making a screen recording.
## Verbally explain what you do on screen
When you record your video, explain everything you do as if you were telling someone who cannot see your screen. You don't have to explain where certain buttons are, but make sure to describe what you do as you do it.
For example, if you're clicking on the Share button
* you **don't** have to say 'Click on the button labelled Share located in the top right corner of the screen'.
* you **should** say 'Click on the Share button' instead of saying nothing.
## Be mindful of clicks
Clueso will automatically capture a screenshot based on your clicks. Avoid clicking around unnecessarily in your video.
## Focus on the visuals
You have full control of the audio script post recording. However, the base recording is the same as what you record. So, while it's totally ok if you ramble/stutter while recording, ensure you're somewhat precise with cursor movements and that the flow of your video is correct from a visual perspective.
# Click highlights
Source: https://help.clueso.io/screen-recording/recording-options/highlight-color
Customize the highlight color for clicks in your video and screenshots
This guide shows you how to customize the pink highlight circle that Clueso automatically adds over UI elements in your videos and screenshots.
Open the **Clueso extension** and click on the three dots menu. From here, go to to **Settings**.
In Settings, you’ll see an option to toggle the click highlight effect on or off for your video and for the article screenshots.
Scroll to the option labeled **Highlight color**. You can replace the default hex code with any color you like.
To make the highlight completely transparent (so no click highlight appears), set the color to `#00000000` (# followed by eight 0s).
Once updated, your chosen highlight color will apply automatically the next time you record.
## FAQs
No. Click highlights are baked into the recording and can’t be removed afterwards.
No. Each team member needs to configure their own highlight settings. Once you set yours, they’ll be saved for your account.
# Recording Language
Source: https://help.clueso.io/screen-recording/recording-options/input-language
Change the input language while recording videos
When you record in Clueso, the extension uses your audio to automatically construct a script. To get accurate results, make sure you set the input language correctly so Clueso can analyze your video.
By default, the input language is set to **English**. If you wish to record in a different language, click on the language drop-down from the chrome extension. Select your desired language from here.
After setting the language, proceed with the recording as usual.
# Choosing a screen to share
Source: https://help.clueso.io/screen-recording/recording-options/share-screen
Learn how to choose the right screen to share
When initiating a new recording in Clueso, you will be presented with three options for sharing your screen. Each option is designed to cater to different recording scenarios. This article will provide a description of each option and guide you on when to choose what.
If you're using a Windows machine, we strongly recommend hiding your Taskbar at the bottom and the Chrome bookmarks bar. This is to ensure the aspect ratio of the video is not too elongated.
## Browser Tab
Choose the **Browser Tab** option if your recording will stay within a single tab. If you need to switch tabs, you can still do so, but you’ll have to click the **“Share this tab instead”** button in your browser each time you switch.
This option gives you the highest recording quality and hides your browser’s tabs and bookmarks bar from the video.
## Window
Choose the **Window** option if you’ll be switching between multiple tabs in the same browser window. Unlike the single-tab option, you won’t need to click a button each time you switch. The trade-off is that the recording quality may be slightly lower than when sharing a single tab.
## Entire Screen
Select the **Entire Screen** option if you need to move between different browser windows or even other applications on your computer. This option offers the most flexibility, but it produces the lowest recording quality of the three.
# FAQs
If your app uses the default **HTML select tag** for dropdowns, Chrome renders these menus (and some tooltips) as a separate layer on top of the page. Because of this, they won’t appear in recordings made with **Browser Tab** or **Window** mode. Use the **Entire Screen** option to capture these elements.
*
By defaule Clueso has permission to capture clicks and screenshots across tabs and windows, but not the video itself. So, if you’re recording in **Browser Tab** mode and forget to click **“Share this tab instead”** after switching tabs, or if you move to a different window without selecting **Entire Screen**, the sync points in your script and screenshots in your article will show certain screenshots but the video won’t include those frames.
# Zoom level
Source: https://help.clueso.io/screen-recording/recording-options/zoom-level
Change the default zoom level for article screenshots
This guide explains how to adjust the default zoom level for screenshots generated by Clueso in your articles.
Open the Clueso Browser extension.
Click the **three-dot menu** and select **settings**.
Find the option for **Screenshot zoom level**. By default, this is set to `2`. You can change it to `1.5`, or set it to `1` if you don’t want any default zoom applied.
From now on, all screenshots Clueso generates in your articles will use the zoom level you selected as the default.
# Syncing voice and video
Source: https://help.clueso.io/sync-points/introduction
Learn how to synchronize your voiceover with your video
In this collection, you’ll find quick tutorials and guides that explain the basics of sync points—how they work, how to add them, and how to adjust them—so you can align your voiceover perfectly with your video.
# Slow down a video
Source: https://help.clueso.io/sync-points/slow-down-video
Slow down a portion of your video with Sync Points
> In this tutorial, you'll learn how to slow down a portion of some clip in your video. If you want to slow down your entire clip uniformly, [check out this tutorial](/voiceovers/voice-pace.mdx).
Sometimes, after generating an AI voiceover, you might observe that a part of your video gets sped up and plays too fast.
First, find the part of the script where the sped up section begins. Place your cursor there , and make some space in the script.
Now, isolate the sped up portion in your script by adding two sync points: one locking to the first frame, and the other locking to the last frame from the section that we want to slow down.
If you don't already know how to add a sync point, refer to [this tutorial](/sync-points/sync-point-basics/add-sync-points).
Once you've added sync points from the start and end of the section that running fast, it would look like as shown below.
On Clueso, the duration of any portion of your video is determined by the time it takes the AI voiceover to read out the portion of the script corresponding to that portion of the video. So, to set the duration of the isolated section, we can either add some script for the voiceover to read out, or add some pause.
Here's an example of some added script between the two sync points. Here, the sped-up section would be slowed down to match the time it takes the voiceover to read out this script.
Here's an example of an inserted pause between the two sync points. In this case, the sped up section would be stretched to take 5 seconds.
To learn how to add a pause, [refer to this guide](/voiceovers/pauses).
Finally, click on **Generate Speech.**
The section should now play at a slower, more suitable speed.
# Speed up a video
Source: https://help.clueso.io/sync-points/speed-up-video
Speed up a portion of your video with Sync Points
> In this tutorial, you'll learn how to speed a portion of some clip in your video. If you want to speed your entire clip uniformly, [check out this tutorial](/voiceovers/voice-pace.mdx).
In this article, you'll learn how to speed up a section of your video on Clueso, particularly useful for skipping through loading screens or other lengthy sections.
In [the previous lesson](/sync-points/slow-down-video), we already learned how to control the playback rate of a certain portion of your video using sync points. If you haven't already gone through it, we'd highly recommend doing so before going through this one.
In our example video, we're generating an image with ChatGPT and want to skip through a long loading screen. The loading section starts when the prompt is entered and ends when the image is generated.
Locate the section in the script that you want to speed up. In this case, it's between **Sync Point 5** and **Sync Point 6.**
Each of the sync points 5 and 6 locks to a certain frame in the video. In this case, sync point 5 locks to the frame where the loading starts, and sync point 6 locks to the frame where the loading ends.
In Clueso, the duration of any portion of your video is determined by the time it takes the AI to read out the script corresponding to that portion of the video.
So in this example, if it takes 10 seconds for the voiceover to read this part of the script, the loading section will last for 10 seconds in the video.
To speed up this section, shorten the script so that the video goes more quickly from the frame at **Sync Point 5** to the frame at **Sync Point 6.**
> **Alternate approach**: If you don't want to delete any part of your script, you can simply drag sync point 6 to an earlier point in your script, so that the loading finishes sooner.
After editing the script, click on **Generate Speech.**
You'll notice that the video moves through the loading screen much faster.
# Add a Sync Point
Source: https://help.clueso.io/sync-points/sync-point-basics/add-sync-points
Add a new Sync Point in your script
Let's consider this line from the script as an example.
The voiceover says, "Once completed, a message will appear stating that Zoom for Google Workspace has been installed."
But when we preview the video after the voice reads out this sentence, the message popup hasn't appeared yet. It's still loading.
That’s not what we want. So, let’s fix it by adding a sync point!
We'll go to the point in the script right after "Once completed," is spoken and add a sync point here.
To do this, simply hit plus and select "Add Sync Point."
Alternatively, you can use the forward slash key on your keyboard and choose "Add Sync Point."
Now, we need to decide what frame the video should display at this point in the voiceover.
We’ll use the slider to find the moment when the loading finishes in the video. When you've found the frame, hit confirm to lock it in.
Our new sync point is now visible. If we click on the sync point, we can see that as soon as the voiceover finishes saying "Once completed" and before it says, "A message will appear," we can see the message popup in the video.
You'll also notice our new sync point is in yellow, which means we must hit "Generate Speech" to apply the changes.
# Edit a Sync Point
Source: https://help.clueso.io/sync-points/sync-point-basics/edit-sync-points
Edit an existing Sync Point in your script
Examine the section of the script shown in the image below. At sync point 5, when the voiceover says "click Install", we notice that the screen in the video is still loading.
Ideally, at this point in the video, we should see the mouse actually clicking on "Install".
To fix this, we can remap the frame that **Sync Point 6** locks to. To do so, let's click on the sync point, then click on the pencil icon to start editing.
A popup will appear asking us to specify the frame to be displayed at this point in the voiceover. We'll select the frame that shows the mouse clicking on "Install".
Now, if we click on our edited sync point, we observe that the voiceover saying "click Install" and the video showing the mouse clicking on "Install" are perfectly synchronized.
Remember: when you edit a sync point, it gets highlighted in yellow, which means you need to click Generate Speech to apply it to your video.

# Translation glossary
Source: https://help.clueso.io/translation/translation-glossary
Control how terms are translated and instruct AI on how to translate your videos
The **Translation Glossary** in Clueso gives you full control over how certain terms are translated. It's perfect for keeping brand names consistent, avoiding incorrect translations, and fine-tuning the tone and grammar of your content across languages.
This guide walks you through setting up custom term translations, importing a glossary, and creating translation rules.
To begin, navigate to the [Settings > Translations](https://web.clueso.io/home/settings/translations)
## Adding Glossary Terms
Use glossary terms when you need specific words or phrases to always be translated a certain way — or not translated at all. This is ideal for brand names, product names, and technical terminology that must stay consistent across every translation.
To define a custom translation, click on the **Add Term** button.
Type the original term and specify how it should be translated.
For instance, you might want the term "Help Center" to be translated as "Hilfe-Center" in German.
You can also add terms like your company name that **should not be translated**.
**Example**: If your company's name is "Acme Software Technologies" add it under both **Original** and **Translated** , set the language to **“any”**. This effectively marks this term as **non-translatable**.
Remember to save your changes.
Already have a glossary file? You can upload it directly from the **Import CSV** button.
## Creating Translation Rules
Use translation rules when you need to control the overall tone, style, or grammar of translations for a specific language. Unlike glossary terms which handle individual words, rules give the AI broader instructions — such as using formal language, following industry-specific conventions, or matching your brand voice.
To add a translation rule, select **New Rule**.
Now, follow these steps:
Set the language that this rule should apply to (e.g., **German**).
Give your rule a name. Pick something descriptive, like: **“Friendly German Education Translator”**
Write clear instructions to guide how translations should be handled. You can include tone guidance (e.g., polite, professional), grammar rules, or vocabulary preferences.
Providing example translations helps the AI understand the tone and structure you prefer.
Now, whenever you translate a video into your chosen language (like German), Clueso will follow:
* The glossary terms you've added
* The rules you've defined
This ensures your translations stay consistent, accurate, and aligned with your brand.
# Set Default Voice
Source: https://help.clueso.io/voiceovers/Set-default-voice
Choose which voice is used by default for each language.
> This guide shows you how to set a default voice for each language. Once selected, that voice will be used automatically whenever you create a new video in that language, saving you the step of choosing it each time.
From the homepage, click **Settings** in the left menu.
In the settings sidebar, select **Video defaults**.
Click **Add voice** to add a default voice.
Choose a **language** to see the available voiceovers.\
Then browse the list and use filters like **Tone**, **Gender**, and **Accent** to find a voice that fits your brand.
Click the play icon next to a voice to preview it. Once you've decided, select the voice and click **Confirm** to save.
You can repeat the same steps to assign different default voices for other languages.
Once you've set your defaults, the selected voice will be applied automatically whenever you create a video in that language.
You can update or remove defaults anytime from the same settings panel.
# Prompt Hub
Source: https://help.clueso.io/voiceovers/Use-Prompt-Hub
Create, manage, and set default prompts for consistent video script generation.
Prompt Hub lets you control how Clueso's AI rewrites your video scripts. Each prompt contains instructions that guide the AI's tone, structure, and style. You can create multiple prompts for different use cases, switch between them, or set one as the default for all videos.
## Opening Prompt Hub
Click the **sliders icon** next to the **AI Rewrite** button at the bottom of the script panel. This opens the **Prompt hub: video script** modal.
## Using Prompt Hub
When you open Prompt Hub, you'll see all available prompts displayed as cards. The currently selected prompt has a blue border. Clueso provides a **default prompt** (marked with a "Default" badge) that works well for most use cases.
Click on any prompt card to select it, then click **Confirm** to apply. The AI will now follow that prompt's instructions when rewriting your video script.
Click **+ Create new** to open the prompt editor. Fill in:
* **Title** — a name to identify when this prompt should be used
* **Prompt** — the instructions that guide the AI (tone, structure, formatting rules, etc.)
* **Set as default prompt** (optional) — makes this the default for all future video rewrites
Click **Create prompt** to save.
## Managing Prompts
* **Edit** — click on a custom prompt card to modify its title or instructions. Pre-made prompts from Clueso are read-only.
* **Delete** — remove a custom prompt you no longer need
* **Switch** — change the active prompt at any time by opening Prompt Hub and selecting a different card
Pre-made prompts (created by the Clueso team) cannot be edited or deleted, but you can always create your own to override them.
## Best Practices for Writing Prompts
* **Be specific about what you want the script to sound like** — describe the style, tone, and narrative approach clearly
* **Write prompts the way you'd explain something to a teammate** — simple, natural language works better than overly formal phrasing
* **Focus on consistent rules** — Prompt Hub works best for instructions you want reused across multiple videos
* **Avoid mixing too many goals into one prompt** — if you need different behaviors, create separate prompts for each use case
### Example video prompts
| Use case | Example prompt |
| ------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Corporate training | "Write in a professional, instructional tone. Use clear step-by-step language. Avoid jargon and keep sentences under 20 words." |
| Product demo | "Write in a friendly, enthusiastic tone. Highlight key features and benefits. Use short, punchy sentences." |
| Nature documentary | "Write in a vivid, descriptive style that paints a picture. Keep sentences flowing and poetic, with a sense of wonder." |
| Technical guide | "Write in a precise, technical tone. Use correct terminology. Be concise and avoid unnecessary adjectives." |
# AI Rewrite

Use AI to rewrite your video scripts
Clueso lets you instantly improve the flow and readability of your script with the AI Rewrite feature. Instead of manually editing every sentence, you can let AI rephrase your script while keeping all of the original information intact.
Click on the **AI Rewrite** button to rewrite the script for your video.
By default, AI Rewrite aims to make your script clear and natural, while keeping all information intact.
If you’d like more control (for example, a more formal tone, shorter sentences, or a conversational style), you can guide the AI using custom prompts from the [Prompt Hub](/voiceovers/Use-Prompt-Hub).

# Editing Script
Source: https://help.clueso.io/voiceovers/editing-script
Learn how to edit scripts for individual clips and manage voiceovers in Clueso.
The script editor in Clueso allows you to edit scripts for individual clips and manage voiceovers with precision.
With the script editor, you can:
* Preview and edit scripts for each clip individually
* Assign different voices to different clips
* Generate speech for specific clips or the entire video
* Control voiceover volume per clip
* Revert to original audio when needed
# Generating speech
Source: https://help.clueso.io/voiceovers/generate-speech
Generate the AI voiceover for your video
Any time you edit your script or adjust sync points, you’ll need to regenerate the voiceover so your changes are reflected in the audio.
When generating speech in Clueso, you have two options:
* **Global (all clips)**: Best when you’ve made multiple changes across your script or adjusted sync points throughout the video. This ensures the entire voiceover is regenerated so everything stays in sync.
* **Clip-specific**: Ideal when you only want to update a single clip—for example, if you’re testing out different voices, or you’ve only edited the script in one small section. This saves time since only that clip’s audio is regenerated.
## Generating speech for all clips
Whenever you make changes in your script (either to text or to sync points), you need to click on **Generate Speech** to regenerate the voiceover to speak out those changes.
When you click the global Generate Speech button, Clueso will regenerate all clips that have updated. Updated clips will have text and sync points highlighted in yellow, making it easy for you to see what’s new.
In case no clips have any changes, clicking on Generate Speech will prompt you if you want to regenerate the entire video's script from scratch.
**Remember**: Changes to text and sync points require you to regenerate speech.
## Generating speech for a single clip
Sometimes you may only want to update one clip — for example, if you’re testing different voices, or editing just a small part of the script. In that case, you can generate speech for a single clip instead of the whole video.
You can click on this Generate Speech button next to the voiceover name and Clueso will create the new AI voiceover for that clip only, without affecting the rest of the video.
## FAQs
Yes. Any time you edit the script text or adjust sync points, you’ll need to regenerate speech so the AI voiceover matches your changes.
Your video will still play, but the AI voiceover may not match your updated script or sync points. Always click Generate Speech after editing to stay in sync.
Yes. You can assign different AI voices to individual clips by generating speech for that clip only. This is useful if you want to experiment with tones, accents, or multiple narrators.
No. Regenerating speech only updates the audio—it doesn’t change the visuals of your video.
If you click Generate Speech but haven’t made any updates, Clueso will ask if you’d like to regenerate the entire video’s audio from scratch.
# Pauses
Source: https://help.clueso.io/voiceovers/pauses
Add pauses to control the timing of your AI voiceover.
Pauses let you control the pacing of your video by inserting moments of silence into the AI voiceover. This is useful for giving viewers time to process what’s on screen, making transitions feel smoother, or syncing with visual elements like pop-ups, animations, or loading screens.
In your script editor, click the **plus (+) button** or hit the forward slash (/) button on your keyboard, then select **Add Pause**. A 1s pause will appear in your script at the selected position.

Choose how long you’d like the pause to last. You can set this in seconds—for example, a short 1–2 second pause for emphasis, or a longer pause for actions like waiting through a loading screen.

After adding a pause, click Generate Speech to update your AI voiceover. The pause will now be included in your video’s timing.

# Pronunciations
Source: https://help.clueso.io/voiceovers/pronunciations
Customize how AI voices pronounce your words
This article explains how to use the Pronunciation Dictionary to customize how Clueso's AI voices pronounce specific words.
This feature is especially useful for proper nouns and industry-specific terms, such as company names, product names, or uncommon terms.
## Adding a word
Navigate to [**Settings > Pronunciations**](https://web.clueso.io/home/settings/pronunciation-dictionary)
Click **New word** to enter the original word which is being mis-pronounced by AI.
Provide a phonetic spelling of your original word to make its pronunciation clear to the AI. For example, if your term is "Adobe", spell it out as "A doe bee".
Select a **language** for the pronunciation rule. You can either:
* Apply the new pronunciation to one specific language, or
* Apply it across **all languages** using the toggle.
Before saving, click **Listen** to preview how the AI will pronounce the word.\
Once satisfied, click **Update word** to finalize.
And that's it 🎉 You've successfully customized the pronunciation of a word, ensuring Clueso pronounces it the way you want across your projects.
## Additional features
### IPA mode (English only)
For English words, you can switch between **Phonetic** and **IPA** (International Phonetic Alphabet) modes using the tabs above the pronunciation field. IPA lets you specify precise phonetic symbols like `əˈdoʊbi` for more accurate control over pronunciation.
IPA mode is only available for English. When "All languages" is enabled, the IPA tab is disabled.
### Case sensitive matching
Enable the **Case sensitive** toggle to make your pronunciation rule match the exact casing of the word. When disabled, the rule applies regardless of how the word is capitalized.
### Managing your dictionary
Once you've added words, they appear as cards in a grid view. Hover over a card to reveal action buttons:
* **Play** — listen to the current pronunciation
* **Edit** — modify the phonetic spelling or settings
* **Delete** — remove the word from your dictionary
### Searching and filtering
Use the **search bar** to quickly find a word in your dictionary.
You can also filter the dictionary by **language** using the dropdown next to the "New word" button to view only the pronunciation rules for a specific language.
# Use original audio
Source: https://help.clueso.io/voiceovers/use-original-audio
Revert a clip back to its original recorded audio
This guide explains how to restore the original audio and script for a video clip in place of an AI-generated voiceover. It’s also useful if you want to revert the script back to its original version before you or AI made any edits.
**Note**: Choosing this option will also revert any edits made (by you or AI)
to the script for that clip.
Click on the voice button on the video clip you wish to revert.
From the options, select **Use original audio**.
**Note:** The *Use original audio* button is only available for video clips.
You cannot use this option on slide clips since they are always created from
within Clueso without audio.
After completing these steps, Clueso will restore both the original script and the original audio for that clip, replacing any AI voiceover that was applied.
## FAQs
You can use the **Use original audio** feature by following the above steps.
Click voice name > then use original audio.
No, the *Use original audio* button is only available for video clips. You
cannot use this option on slide clips since they are always created from
within Clueso without audio.
# Voiceover pace
Source: https://help.clueso.io/voiceovers/voice-pace
Adjust the speaking pace of your voiceovers
The pacing of your video is determined by your voiceover in Clueso. You can adjust the speaking speed of your voiceovers, and the video will automatically slow down or speed up to match the new pace.
## Changing the pace
In the script panel, click on the **voice name** (e.g., "Sarah") shown in the clip header. A dropdown will appear with your available voices.
Click **Browse voices** at the bottom of the dropdown to open the full voice picker.
In the voice picker, click the **filter icon** (top-right of the search bar) to reveal the **Advanced Settings** panel. Here you'll find the **Pace** slider.
Drag the **Pace** slider to set the speaking speed. The available range is:
| Pace | Effect |
| -------- | ------------------------------------------- |
| **0.8x** | Slower — more deliberate, easier to follow |
| **0.9x** | Slightly slower than normal |
| **1.0x** | Normal speed (default) |
| **1.1x** | Slightly faster than normal |
| **1.2x** | Faster — more energetic, covers more ground |
If you want the same pace across every clip in your video, toggle on **Apply to all clips** at the bottom-left of the voice picker.
Click **Confirm** to save the pace change, then click **Generate Speech** to create the voiceover at the new pace.
## How pace affects your video
When you change the voiceover pace:
* **Slower pace** — the voiceover takes longer, so the video stretches to match. This gives viewers more time to absorb each frame.
* **Faster pace** — the voiceover is quicker, so the video speeds up. This works well for high-level overviews or energetic content.
The video timing automatically adjusts to stay in sync with the voiceover — you don't need to manually realign anything.
## Advanced Settings
The Advanced Settings panel also lets you filter voices by:
* **Supports IPA** — voices that can pronounce words using IPA phonetic notation (English only)
* **Supports audio tags** — voices that support emotional or stylistic audio tags
Use a slower pace (0.8x–0.9x) for complex tutorials where viewers need time to process each step. Use a faster pace (1.1x–1.2x) for product demos or overview videos where you want to maintain energy.
