When your video clip and the canvas have different aspect ratios, Clueso adds a background around the clip to fill the gap. To remove it, match the canvas to your clip’s original aspect ratio, then fit the clip to the canvas.

Click outside the canvas

Click anywhere outside the canvas to deselect your clip. The right panel now shows the canvas settings.

Choose the original aspect ratio

In the right panel, open the aspect ratio dropdown. There are several options, but pick the original aspect ratio, which matches the canvas to your video clip’s own dimensions.

Select the video clip

Click the video clip on the canvas. The right panel switches to the clip’s settings.

Fit to canvas

Click Fit to Canvas. Your clip fills the entire canvas, and the background around it is gone.

The background appears whenever the clip’s aspect ratio doesn’t match the canvas. Matching the canvas to the clip’s original aspect ratio is what clears it and Fit to Canvas makes sure the clip covers the whole frame.
